Founded in 1922 as Kramer Lumber and Supply Company, our lumber yard and show room in Clifton, New Jersey served as our original source for providing high quality building materials and lumber millwork throughout the state.
The building boom in the aftermath of World War II prompted a natural progression into residential construction, which began our homebuilding business. With a focus on single family product, the second generation of principals built more than twenty thousand homes throughout the next several decades.
In 1952, Chandler Associates was established to provide a platform for developing multi-family properties. Over the course of the next twenty years, we amassed with our partners nearly ten thousand units, the majority of which consisted of garden apartment communities within the Northern and Central counties of New Jersey.
We have since transitioned from a residential focused company into a versatile and well-rounded business that endeavors to maintain the same principles of our heritage.
Through a strong network of associates, we have gained access to and invested in a unique collection of assets. Our direct equity participations include holdings in multi-family, office, retail, industrial, hospitality and self-storage properties. Among the markets we have targeted include Atlanta, Chicago, New England, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., as well as the New York Metropolitan Area and South Florida.
While we have been fortunate to enjoy a successful track record with our existing sponsors, we remain interested in forging new relationships and considering opportunities outside the scope of our area and expertise. Additionally, we are open minded as to alternative investments beyond real estate that may create further diversification.
